Use these rules when preparing an FBX file for custom dice.
File Requirements
- File extension must be
.fbx.
- Binary FBX and ASCII FBX files are supported.
- Maximum file size is 12 MB.
- Choose the die type that matches your model:
d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, or d20.
Model Rotation and Orientation
Before exporting, set the dice model rotation to X: 0°, Y: 0°, Z: 0°. Apply the rotation or full transform in your 3D software, then export the FBX.
Keep the pivot at the center of the die and align the visible top face with the +Z axis. The exported model should not appear tilted or turned on its side when previewed.
Overlay Numbers
Select Overlay Numbers when your FBX does not contain numbered face markers. The application adds the result number over the model.
Model Numbers
Select Model Numbers when numbers are built into the model. Add one object marker for every face using this exact naming pattern:
result_1
result_2
...
result_N
d4 requires result_1 through result_4.
d6 requires result_1 through result_6.
d20 requires result_1 through result_20.
Marker names must be object names in the FBX hierarchy. Missing markers make the upload invalid.
d100 Rolls
The roll menu keeps a d100 option, but it is rolled as two d10 dice. The first d10 is tens, the second is ones, and each 10 face counts as 0. A 00 result counts as 100.
Custom d100 FBX files are not supported. Upload a custom d10 skin to control both dice used by a d100 roll.
After Upload
- You can keep up to 6 custom dice.
- Use Activate on an inactive skin to choose the default skin for its die type.
- Use Test to roll the model locally without sending a chat message.
